We are seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at The University of Chicago Medicine. As an Ultrasound Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality imaging services to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Perform obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound procedures, selecting proper technical equipment settings and images in proper sequence according to established protocols.
- Engage in general obstetric, high-risk obstetric, and gynecologic ultrasound procedures, including Level II Anatomy, Nuchal Translucency, and amniocentesis.
- Follow directives from the Imaging Team Lead and Practice Manager to perform high-quality imaging studies.
- Consult with the team lead and supervisor as needed to verify requests for procedures and determine the appropriate protocol and method of application.
- Employ imaging systems, accessory devices, and patient positioning techniques to generate quality images.
- Care for patients throughout the procedure according to department and hospital standards of patient care and age-specific sensitivities.
- Participate in lifting and transporting patients to and from the department when necessary.
- Evaluate resultant images in comparison with industry standards and take corrective action as needed.
- Refer to appropriate reference materials for clarification when needed and consult with the Imaging Team Lead when assistance is required.
- Provide patient education prior to, during, and subsequent to the procedure to reduce patient anxiety and enhance their comfort zone.
- Utilize Radiology Information Systems in accordance with current guidelines and protocols.
- Document imaging procedures manually and/or electronically to ensure correct charging, patient, and film file tracking.
- Satisfactory completion of formal Ultrasound training program through an accredited school.
- 2 years of Ultrasound experience in obstetrics and gynecologic exams preferred.
- Effective communication skills and excellent patient care skills required.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent teamwork and ability to work independently on call.
- Experience with GE and Philips Ultrasound machines preferred.
- Current registry by ARDMS in OB/GYN Imaging.
- Nuchal Translucency certification within 6 months of hire.
- CPR and BLS training required through the American Heart Association.
- Job Type: Full-Time (1.0 FTE).
- Shift: Days.
- Work Location: Onsite.
- Unit/Department: OBGYN.
- CBA Code: Non-Union.
