Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist, OB/GYN, Full-Time, Days

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in the OB/GYN department at The University of Chicago Medicine. As an Ultrasound Technologist, you will be responsible for performing obstetric and gynecologic ultrasounds and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound procedures selecting proper technical equipment settings and images in proper sequence according to set protocols established by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Engage in general obstetric, high-risk obstetric, and gynecologic ultrasound procedures.
- Perform and assist on a variety of procedures and scans, including Level II Anatomy, Nuchal Translucency, and amniocentesis.
- Follow directives of the Imaging Team Lead and the Practice Manager to perform high-quality imaging studies.
- Consult with the team lead and supervisor when necessary to verify requests for procedures to determine the appropriate procedure protocol and method of application.
- Appropriately employ imaging systems, accessory devices, and patient positioning techniques to generate quality images.
- Care for the patient throughout the procedure according to department and hospital standards of patient care and age-specific sensitivities.
- Participate in lifting and transporting patients to and from the department when necessary.
- Evaluate the resultant images in comparison with industry standards and take corrective action if needed.
- Refer to appropriate reference materials for clarification when needed and consult with Imaging Team Lead when assistance is necessary.
- Provide patient education prior to, during, and subsequent to the procedure to reduce the patient's anxiety and enhance their comfort zone with and tolerance of the procedure.
- Utilize Radiology information systems in accordance with current guidelines and protocols.
- Document imaging procedures manually and/or electronically to ensure correct charging and patient and film file tracking.

Requirements:

- Satisfactory completion of formal Ultrasound training program through an accredited school.
- 2 years of Ultrasound experience in obstetrics and gynecologic exams preferred.
- Effective communication skills and excellent patient care skills required.
- Ability to handle high-pressure, fast-paced work environments.
- Excellent teamwork and ability to work independently on call.
- Experience with GE and Philips Ultrasound machines preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

- Current registry by ARDMS in OB/GYN Imaging.
- Nuchal Translucency certification within 6 months of hire.
- CPR and BLS training required through the American Heart Association.
