Job Description

As a Perinatal Sonographer II at The University of Chicago Medicine, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care by performing advanced ultrasound imaging for patients with high-risk and routine pregnancies, as well as complex and routine gynecological conditions.

This position requires expertise in both fetal and maternal conditions, adhering to AIUM and Maternal-Fetal Medicine standards of care. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing detailed obstetric and gynecological imaging, including First Trimester Fetal Anatomy, Level I & II Second Trimester Anatomy, and gynecological ultrasound guidance, as well as fertility monitoring exams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete all OB and GYN exam types, including OB Anatomy.
  • Perform exams without assistance.
  • Stay up-to-date with general and advanced department protocols.
  • Troubleshoot ultrasound machine technical problems and address unresolved issues with the correct UCM team.
  • Provide ultrasound guidance for invasive procedures and intraoperative procedures.
  • Conduct training for Sonographer I, including all exam types and guidance.
  • Participate in training of residents.
  • Demonstrate responsibility in order accuracy, exam billing, and protocol.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Lead Sonographer and Sonographer Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Educational Sonographer to improve imaging evaluation and quality.
  • Ensure proper identification and documentation of images and reports.
  • Maintain and operate imaging equipment effectively, documenting any equipment concerns.
  • Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers.
  • Prepare and plan for patient care to ensure quality and continuity.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program.
  • ARDMS Registry (OB/GYN) required.
  • Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • 3-5 years of relevant OBGYN ultrasound experience.
  • Nuchal Translucency preferred.
