Role Summary:
HCA Physician Services is seeking a proactive and skilled medical education professional to assume the role of Graduate Medical Education Designated Institutional Official [DIO]. This position involves overseeing residency and fellowship initiatives within our healthcare facilities.Candidate Qualifications:
- Must possess a Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), or equivalent Doctorate-level degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, JD), or other qualifications as determined by the Division Vice President of GME and facility leadership.
- Previous experience as a DIO or in a significant GME administrative role is highly preferred.
- Experience in undergraduate medical education administration or related healthcare administration may be suitable in specific circumstances.
- For physicians, board certification in a specialty and eligibility for a medical license in Florida is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- The DIO will play a crucial role within HCA Physician Services' community of DIOs and GME leadership, holding the authority and responsibility for the management and administration of ACGME-accredited programs, ensuring adherence to ACGME Institutional, Common, and specialty/subspecialty-specific Program Requirements.
- The selected DIO will oversee more than 10 residency and fellowship programs, managing over 120 residents and fellows, and will report directly to the East Florida Division Vice President of Graduate Medical Education and corporate GME leadership.
- Collaboration with the Division VP of GME and other leaders will be essential to enhance the educational quality of each program.
- The DIO will lead the local GME team in fostering a positive working and learning environment, aiming to cultivate an outstanding experience for all residents and fellows.
- Monitoring changes in ACGME accreditation standards and requirements will be a key responsibility, along with disseminating relevant information to stakeholders within the institution.
- Clinical engagement opportunities will depend on specialty and availability within desired practice settings.
- Qualified candidates may have the opportunity for active involvement with partner medical schools and an appointment to the academic faculty, along with engagement in national GME-related professional organizations.
