In-School Suspension Support Specialist

This role is responsible for supporting students who have been assigned to in-school suspension. The successful candidate will work with administrators and teachers to coordinate the academic activities of suspended students, ensuring they complete their assigned work. The In-School Suspension Assistant will also counsel students, maintain order and discipline within the in-school suspension room/center, and review student progress with the principal.
Responsibilities:
Explain and enforce strict adherence to in-school suspension policies and procedures
Provide assistance to students to ensure they complete assigned work during in-school suspension
Counsel students concerning the impact of their actions
Obtain student assignments, textbooks, and materials
Maintain and report daily attendance and records of assignment completion status for students required to attend in-school suspension
Provide assistance to students as needed
Submit completed student work to appropriate teachers
Assign additional work if students complete required assignments before the end of the designated time
Collect parental notification forms
Confer with school personnel concerning student progress
Prepare releases for students who complete in-school suspension
Requirements:
This role requires a high school diploma and a minimum of 60 hours of college-level coursework or successful completion of the PARAPRO test with a score of 455 or better. Additionally, at least one year of experience working with children and 2-3 years of customer service experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required.
