About the Role

Amergis is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Aide to join our team. As a School Aide, you will work closely with students requiring instructional and behavioral assistance in a special education setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with diverse needs, including those with behavioral challenges.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as toileting, dressing, and feeding.
  • Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, and reinforcement systems.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other school professionals to ensure seamless support for students.
  • Accompany students during recess, lunch, and community experiences, promoting socialization and inclusion.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding student, parent, and classroom activities.
  • Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel, such as PT, OT, and SLP.
  • Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities.
  • Participate in behavior management techniques, as directed by the teacher and/or other school professionals.
  • Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom.
  • Assist with transfers and ambulation, ensuring student safety and well-being.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher education preferred.
  • Experience working with students with special needs, particularly those with behavioral challenges.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to confidentiality requirements.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray, if applicable.
  • Current health certificate, per contract or state regulation.
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training, as applicable to the job site.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit and provide information to and from appropriate individuals.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
