Job Title: Medical Assistant

Cameron County is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team in the Clinical Services Program. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the clinical services staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with daily duties, including clerical and clinical work, to ensure the smooth operation of the Clinical Services Program.
  • Accurately document all time worked and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Perform functions and render services consistent with established Cameron County Public Health Policies and Procedures.
  • Interview clients and/or guardians to obtain health history and immunization status.
  • Prepare and administer immunizations and treatments consistent with CCPH protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct data entry on clients seen during clinic visits in records and electronic reporting systems.
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling clinics, documenting medically related notes, and performing screening laboratory tests and vital signs.
  • Participate in the coordination of laboratory specimen collections and ensure that all abnormal results are routed to the LVN/RN/FNP/ANP/MD, as appropriate.
  • Assist in completing monthly reports, Quarterly Quality Assurance Record Reviews, and Quality Assurance Quarterly Medical Reviews.
  • Make appropriate referrals to agencies as necessary to ensure client's medical needs are met.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Assistants and maintain current certification.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, public health laws and regulations, and natural history of common infectious diseases.
  • Good communication skills (oral and written) and Spanish speaking ability.
  • Ability to work with confidential client information and understand public health laws and regulations.
Working Conditions:

Working conditions are primarily in a clinic, office, or community center. The ideal candidate will have good health and physical condition sufficient to permit full performance of the duties of the position.
