Medical Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at UnitedHealth Group. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform various clinical tasks, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and assisting with medical procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and efficient clinic operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices, participating in ongoing training and education to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical records (EMRs) a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ year of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a related healthcare role.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding a plus.
  • Basic computer literacy with intermediate Word, Outlook, Excel, and EMR systems a plus.
  • Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Proven good communication and customer service skills.
