As a Registered Nurse in our Freestanding Emergency Room, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to achieve exceptional patient outcomes.

Job Summary and Qualifications:

The Registered Nurse Emergency Room coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.

What you will do in this role:

  • You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for assigned patients.
  • You will meet the Standards of Practice for the Emergency Department (ED) and manage all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment.
  • You will participate in activities to plan, measure, assess, and improve the quality of patient care.
  • You will routinely provide triage assessment for patients presenting for treatment.
  • You will routinely perform venipunctures for obtaining specimens for lab tests.
  • You will routinely provide intervention in emergency, life-threatening situations.
  • You will assume the responsibility of charging the department, as needed.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current Texas Licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) Required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas has been serving the Rio Grande Valley for more than 30 years.
