Overview
UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant's practice, including operating diagnostic equipment, removing staples from superficial wounds, and administering non-intravenous medication.
- Prepare and sterilize medical equipment using the autoclave and perform quality control checks on equipment.
- Room patients according to policy and procedures, prepare patients for examination, and record patient care documentation in the medical record accurately and in a timely manner.
- Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians, company standards, and policies, and respect patient confidentiality at all times.
- Organize exam and treatment rooms, stock and clean rooms, and sterilize instruments.
- Practice standard infection control precautions and perform all other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 180 days of employment.
- Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days of hire.
- Proven knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer literacy.
- Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations and good communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
