Position Overview

The Senior Nuclear Operations Educator is responsible for the creation and administration of Regulatory Exams in alignment with NUREG 1021, "Operator Licensing Examination Standards for Power Reactors." This role is crucial in providing accredited training to Operations personnel, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate an Initial Exam Development Plan to guarantee that all essential project milestones are achieved.
  • Generate examination materials in compliance with NUREG 1021 standards for both initial and requalification assessments.
  • Prepare exam submissions to support the milestone timeline and ensure adherence to NUREG 1021 guidelines.
  • Implement and deliver training using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) methodology within accredited programs.
  • Assess, remediate, and evaluate student performance during training and assessment activities while maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensure compliance with SAT as outlined in the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) ACAD documents.
  • Oversee Accreditation Objectives and Criteria for assigned programs, including collaboration with INPO and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) as necessary.
  • Engage professionally with other departments and external agencies to guarantee high-quality training delivery.
  • Maintain a Senior Reactor Operator Certification.
  • Fulfill Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A high school diploma or GED is mandatory; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Operations or Operations Training within the nuclear sector is required.
  • Experience with Westinghouse PWR systems is highly desirable.
  • Possession of or previous holding of a Reactor Operator (RO) or Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience in Regulatory Exam development is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management.
  • Strong organizational skills to independently coordinate various training courses across multiple departments.
  • Must be able to respond within site-specific ERO timeframes.
