Key Responsibilities:

The Communications Security Responsible Officer (CRO) plays a pivotal role in supporting operations related to critical mission systems. The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting communications security (COMSEC) equipment and processes.
  • Managing the ordering and tracking of COMSEC materials.
  • Planning and transporting COMSEC key management materials.
  • Ensuring adherence to Two-Person Integrity as the COMSEC gatekeeper.
  • Overseeing the keying of network and telecommunications equipment.
  • Analyzing and resolving classified security issues while coordinating necessary compliance actions.
  • Developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintaining physical security measures and access controls.
  • Safeguarding storage of classified COMSEC materials.
  • Keeping accurate records of combinations and conducting daily security checks.
  • Managing inventory and accounting requirements for COMSEC materials.
  • Conducting routine destruction of COMSEC materials and generating destruction reports.
  • Maintaining records of alternate COMSEC personnel.
  • Performing semi-annual inventories and reporting findings.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with security protocols and proper handling of classified materials.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting and correcting network systems and circuit errors.
  • Supporting documentation of long-haul transport circuit/network/system records.

Work Schedule:

Shift work may be required to support 24/7 operations. Availability for various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Security Clearance – TS with SCI eligibility.
  • Certification – DoD 8570 IAT II certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with COMSEC policies and procedures.
  • Experience with common COMSEC devices.
  • Knowledge of DoD processes or equivalent regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with COMSEC, KMI, and KOAM.
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of OSI, TCP/IP, and various layer 2 protocols.
  • Knowledge of data center transport mechanisms and cabling.
  • Experience in audit preparation and participation.
  • General knowledge of Personnel, Physical, and Industrial Security.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation:

This position is expected to offer an annual salary range of $60,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience, education, and relevant certifications.

  • Daily commuting between locations may be necessary.
