About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our team in Columbus, OH. As a key member of our construction services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful placement and use of construction materials on project sites.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing plans and specifications in preparation for field observations on construction sites
  • Documenting field activities, observations, and testing results on projects
  • Calibrating field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards
  • Performing Special Inspection observations per the International Building Code (IBC)
  • Communicating daily with management staff, general contractors, and clients
Requirements:
  • High school diploma/GED
  • 2+ years experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials OR 1 year of related experience plus vocational training OR an associate degree in a related field with no experience
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • Good math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
  • Ability to complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device
  • 1 or more of the following active industry certifications: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory TechnicianInternational Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete
