Position Overview: The U.S. Space Command is seeking a highly skilled individual to assume the role of a Risk Management Action Officer. This position is crucial for ensuring the integrity and security of our cybersecurity initiatives.

Location: U.S. Space Command, Colorado Springs, CO

Role Summary: The selected candidate will provide essential cybersecurity knowledge and support related to risk management frameworks, cybersecurity evaluations, and program oversight, ensuring adherence to applicable legal and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and execute risk management framework activities, conducting thorough cybersecurity evaluations and managing cybersecurity programs.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in computer security, formulating and applying the cybersecurity risk management framework for effective risk assessments.
  • Identify potential cybersecurity weaknesses, assess mission risks associated with these vulnerabilities, and develop actionable recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • Deliver expert guidance and technical advice to enhance the cybersecurity posture of space systems.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with Department of Defense and federal regulations relevant to the Chief Information Officer's responsibilities.
  • Represent the U.S. Space Command in matters concerning space systems cybersecurity, articulating priorities and negotiating solutions with stakeholders.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of computer and information security requirements for network operations, system administration, and evaluation processes.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense and U.S. Government Risk Management Framework standards.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, data security risk management, and the implications of cybersecurity failures.
  • Proven ability to innovate and execute projects within defined operational and time constraints.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information clearly and accurately.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in securing an Authority to Operate or Authority to Connect for systems in accordance with cybersecurity risk management guidelines.
  • Required certifications and education to meet standards outlined in the Department of Defense's Cyberspace Workforce Qualification and Management Program.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Must handle sensitive and classified information in compliance with regulations.
  • Position may require drug testing and occasional travel.
