Job Summary

A Sonographer is a skilled ultrasound professional, qualified through credentialing, education, and clinical experience to deliver diagnostic patient care services utilizing ultrasound and related diagnostic methods. The role encompasses procedures and practices authorized by law, for which the individual has received appropriate training and experience. Competency is demonstrated through the necessary ARDMS certifications, which represent the standard in ultrasound practice.

The specialist will participate in providing patient-specific care standards and adhere to service excellence protocols to maintain high levels of patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patient capacity to undergo procedures while demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and positioning.
  • Develop and implement a procedural plan that aligns with established protocols.
  • Identify sonographic characteristics of normal and abnormal tissues, structures, and blood flow; adjust scanning techniques to enhance image quality and spectral waveform characteristics; analyze findings throughout the examination to ensure a thorough assessment is completed.
  • Conduct measurements and calculations in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Minimize patient exposure to acoustic energy while maintaining examination quality and thoroughness.
  • Ensure that the examination complies with relevant protocols and guidelines.
  • Document findings clearly and comprehensively, including diagnostic and patient data in the appropriate records, following established policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Associate Degree or higher in a relevant technological field.
  • Completion of an educational program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a minimum of one year of obstetrics experience.
  • Preferred: One year of prior experience as an MFM Sonographer.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Credentials from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Current certification with ARDMS registered in OB within one year of hire.
  • Fetal Echocardiography certification must be obtained within two years of hire.
  • Fetal Nuchal Translucency certification must be obtained within one year of employment start date.
  • Nasal Bone Certification must be obtained within one year of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
