Job Overview

The Retirement Plan Consultant collaborates with the Senior Consultant to leverage specialized expertise gained through experience and training in managing both qualified and nonqualified retirement plans. This role encompasses all facets of plan architecture, compliance evaluation, daily operations, and nurturing client relationships. Strong analytical skills are essential for researching and proposing strategies to address client requirements. The consultant is also responsible for personal and professional development through continuous education and practical experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Senior Consultant in managing a portfolio of Defined Contribution Retirement Plans, with the aim of eventually taking full ownership of these responsibilities.
  2. Execute project-related tasks independently while receiving guidance from the Senior Consultant on newly assigned duties.
  3. Engage with clients to discuss all elements of plan architecture.
  4. Supervise daily operations, including annual compliance evaluations, Form 5500 preparation, trust accounting, participant notifications, and plan documentation.
  5. Foster client relationships to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
  6. Anticipate client requirements and develop solutions to address their challenges.
  7. Guide and mentor junior analysts.
  8. Prepare and verify deliverables for precision and quality.
  9. Take charge of personal and professional growth; actively seek opportunities for skill enhancement and consulting experience.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of

  • Ability to conduct compliance evaluations, discuss plan architecture, prepare annual reports, and complete DOL and IRS forms with support from the Senior Consultant as necessary.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks, managing multiple projects concurrently, working autonomously, and driving tasks to completion with guidance from the Senior Consultant as needed.
  • Proficient in operating standard office equipment and utilizing essential software applications, including Microsoft Office and established databases.
  • Familiarity with the Relius recordkeeping system is preferred.

Skill in

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.

Ability to

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to research and identify potential strategies to discuss with the Senior Consultant to meet client needs.

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in a relevant field.
  • 3 - 4 years of experience in the retirement sector, with client-facing experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• QKA or QPA designation is preferred.
