The Activities Director plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in a long-term care setting. This position is responsible for overseeing the Activities Assistants and orchestrating both group and individual activities that promote social interaction and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and mentor Activities Assistants in their daily tasks.
- Plan and facilitate a variety of recreational activities, including games and special interest groups.
- Assist residents in transitioning to and from activity areas.
- Encourage resident participation in scheduled activities and events.
- Provide bedside recreation activities when necessary.
- Organize special events, outings, and cultural experiences for residents.
- Develop and distribute a monthly activity calendar.
- Maintain accurate records of activity participation and complete necessary documentation.
Candidates should possess a high school diploma, with a preference for those holding a Bachelor's degree and having completed MEPAP I & II courses. Previous experience in an activities program within long-term care or assisted living environments is highly desirable.
Essential Skills:- Proficient in craft skills and understanding group dynamics.
- Exceptional organizational abilities with a capacity to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills combined with high energy, creativity, and enthusiasm.
- Experience working with individuals who have cognitive, physical, and sensory challenges.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
