We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Architect to join our team at HKS. As a key member of our Health team, you will be responsible for envisioning, designing, and delivering exceptional projects for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Project Architects in planning work and developing solutions to technical and design detail problems.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers in defining project work plans and developing and managing the production schedule, including effectively defining and meeting deadlines.
  • Develop and modify complex detailed implementation documents to incorporate the design intent, using diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices and advanced techniques.
  • Supervise the preparation of documents by architectural team, including verifying implementation documents conform to QA/QC and HKS standards, best practice and quality expectations.
  • Manage the technical resolution and coordination for the project.
  • Write reports or specifications for assigned project.
  • Prepare client presentations and present design concepts and drawings.
  • Maintain open communication with client and provide guidance through projects.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, clients, public agencies, consultants, and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications, and modifications, and obtain approvals, negotiations, and adjusting scope of services.
  • Communicate with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentation.
  • Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings and document as needed.
  • Responsible for preparing and/or reviewing meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings.
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team, including promoting communication and creating approachability.
  • Actively promote and incorporate the firm's principles of 'design excellence' through the integration of responsible and sustainable design practice with the art of design.
  • Collaborate in managing project to satisfy requirements from budget and schedule perspective while delivering a quality work product.
  • Responsible for delivering a project on defined budget requirements and maintaining accountability to project plan and planned utilization rate.
  • Support and may lead the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing current clients for repeat business, and assisting with proposals, budgets, and schedules.
  • May lead proposal preparation process and participates in negotiation of scope and fees on contracts.
  • May participate in marketing interviews.
Requirements
  • Accredited professional degree in Architecture.
  • Architectural Registration required.
  • Typically 15+ years of experience.
  • Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
  • Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D modeling software preferred.
  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, accessibility guidelines, and QA/QC process.
  • Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into implementation documents.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to manage team with diplomatic leadership style which puts value on relationships and collaboration, both internal and external.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
