Role Summary

The Plant Operations Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the operation of a facility dedicated to converting landfill gas into Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). This role requires close collaboration with the Plant Manager to ensure optimal plant performance through routine and emergency maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong commitment to safety protocols. This position is hands-on and requires a dedicated individual who is eager to learn and work as part of a dynamic team.

Reporting Structure

The Specialist will report directly to the Plant Manager and the RNG Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant and its equipment, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, utilizing remote support when necessary.
  • Utilize SCADA systems to enhance operational efficiency and maintenance practices.
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on all primary and ancillary equipment, including but not limited to gas compressors, pumps, and treatment systems.
  • Document operational data and events using the Operational Data Management System (ODMS).
  • Adhere to compliance regulations and assist in maintaining necessary documentation and inspections.
  • Respond promptly to plant emergencies and assist in training new team members.
  • Travel to other facilities as needed for support and training purposes.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify opportunities to enhance plant efficiency and performance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 5 years of experience in plant operations or related fields.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification preferred.
  • Strong mechanical skills and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with team members.
  • Physical capability to perform manual tasks, including lifting heavy objects.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Renewable Energy, Gas Processing, or related industries.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Experience with Renewable Natural Gas processes.
  • Higher education in a relevant field is advantageous.
  • Training in Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
