Job Summary:

As an Ophthalmic Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality eye care services to our patients. This position requires a strong foundation in ophthalmic assisting and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Room patients for eye care providers, gathering accurate data and performing various tests, including stereo testing, color vision testing, and visual acuity assessments.
  • Assist with minor surgeries, schedule surgery, pre-op and post-op appointments, and triage patients in clinic, on phone, or through inbox messages.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and providers to ensure seamless patient care.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in an eye care setting.
  • Professional, punctual, dependable, and excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and keyboarding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal optometric assistant training from an accredited technical/vocational school.
  • Ophthalmic assistant certification by Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCHAPO) or paraoptometric assistant certification by the American Optometric Association (AOA).
  • Experience with EPIC computer system.
