Job Summary

U-Haul International Inc. is seeking an experienced commercial Project Engineer for new multi-story self-storage projects and building reuse. The ideal candidate must be capable of preparing construction budgets, reviewing and assisting cost estimating and project scheduling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including owner's representatives, contractors, architects/engineers, and city officials to ensure project success.
  • Track and schedule projects, conduct on-site inspections, and ensure project close-out.
  • Utilize Microsoft programs, Teams, Project, Excel, and other software to manage projects.
  • Travel to project sites as required.
  • Report job status, daily progress, estimates, and deliveries to stakeholders.
  • Assist in drafting construction contracts, analyzing bids, and mitigating risks.
  • Communicate with responsible parties to ensure quality construction meets or exceeds company standards and industry best practices.
  • Review projects daily to ensure quality construction standards are met.
  • Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in construction management.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant construction experience.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Experience in fields such as Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, or construction trade foreman/leadman roles is preferred.

Work Environment

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions, such as working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Demands

The work requires some physical exertion, including long periods of remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
