Job Title: HVAC Instructor

Join Durham Technical Community College as an HVAC Instructor and contribute to the education of students in the Industrial Systems Technology Program. As an adjunct professor, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering courses, teaching all assigned courses, and upholding academic policies. Your expertise in HVAC systems, troubleshooting, and repair will be invaluable to our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver courses, including lectures, discussions, and hands-on training
  • Teach all assigned courses for the full duration of scheduled instruction
  • Enforce academic policies and procedures, comply with institutional rules and regulations
  • Assume responsibility for off-site/classroom prep, including maintenance and clean-up
  • Complete mandatory training

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical License
  • Associate degree from an accredited institution in HVAC/AHR technology
  • 5 years of experience working in the HVAC industry with CFC Universal certification

Supplemental Information:

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, how to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain them
  • Ability to develop projects for students to learn HVAC systems in addition to share demonstrations to assist in their learning process
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to think creatively and put ideas into action
  • PC literate
  • Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of a community college

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift, at times, 40 lbs
  • Good eye/hand dexterity

Normal Working Hours:

Specific work hours are to be determined by the scheduled class hours and by consultation with the supervisor. Hours are not guaranteed but are based on student enrollment and faculty needs.
