Our client, a world leader in creating stronger and more reliable networks, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Mayfield Ohio.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing product engineering services, including product development, product modifications, and technical service, under the direction of an Engineering Manager or high-ranking engineer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to Marketing and Manufacturing for existing product offerings.
  • Evaluate alternative materials for cost reductions/improved performance.
  • Help with new product development and product modification work.
  • Develop product parameters, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Work with vendors concerning tooling and part fabrication issues.
  • Consider regulatory issues, safety regulations, application procedures, quality acceptance criteria, verification analysis, and design review requirements.
  • Provide technical performance data necessary to support the sale of new and modified products.
  • Extend existing products to affect greater use by customers.
  • Modify products to do specialized jobs required by customers and deemed necessary by marketing or engineering.
  • Handle field complaints and product failures, analyzing problems, solutions, or recommendations after proper engineering and laboratory studies.
  • Work with Production, Quality Assurance, and Materials Engineer to determine acceptable quality and resolve problems of questionable quality of products.
  • Interpret engineering recommendations, customer specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Attend technical meetings, conferences, and specialized courses consistent with area of responsibility.
  • Develop and conduct material test procedures to comply with industry and customer specifications.

The ideal candidate will have a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, at least two years of product development or application engineering experience, and proficiency in using computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

This role requires 10-20% travel.
