Position Title: HVAC Technician

Position Overview:

The HVAC Technician is responsible for performing preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing of commercial and industrial HVAC systems. This role involves conducting tests and analyzing data to ensure optimal equipment performance and providing appropriate recommendations. A solid understanding of control operations and sequences for commercial and industrial HVAC systems is essential. The technician must maintain organized service and maintenance records and communicate effectively to assess needs. This position requires leadership skills, strong customer relationship management, and team-building capabilities. Adherence to all electrical safety standards and procedures is mandatory, including the training and mentoring of apprentices and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install replacement components and equipment according to manufacturer specifications to uphold warranties.
  • Conduct HVACR preventive maintenance in line with established protocols.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and rectify HVACR malfunctions in compliance with EPA standards.
  • Adhere to maintenance schedules to ensure timely and accurate equipment upkeep and operating logs.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including inspections, monitoring reports, and service records.
  • Engage in general tasks such as safety training, team meetings, light maintenance, and special event preparations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent; completion of an HVAC Apprenticeship Program.
  • 1-3 years of experience in HVAC/Maintenance, specifically with commercial or industrial systems.
  • Preferred: EPA universal refrigeration license.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, including safety policies and procedure manuals; capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems; basic mathematical skills across all measurement units; ability to read blueprints and technical schematics.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands for handling, and communicate effectively. Occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, and perform tasks such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and the risk of electrical shock. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, high places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, extreme temperatures, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. Daily driving of a company vehicle is required.
