Substitute Nurse for Central Office

This is a temporary role within the DeKalb County School District. Due to the volume of applications, only those who meet the qualifications will be contacted as necessary.
Qualifications Required:
- Preferred: Associate's Degree in Practical Nursing or equivalent education/training.
- Required: At least one (1) year of practical nursing or closely related experience.
- Preferred: Experience in pediatric nursing.
- Submission of official transcripts from your educational institution is required.
- Two Professional References are mandatory.
The DeKalb County School District is actively seeking Certified RN and LPN Substitute Nurses to provide health services in schools throughout the district. The hourly compensation for this role is $22.50/hr. Qualified candidates will be contacted as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer health procedures and assist students with medication administration.
- Conduct respiratory assessments and provide tracheostomy care as necessary.
- Communicate with parents, school staff, healthcare providers, and other relevant agencies regarding student health issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for students.
- Regularly observe students to identify health needs.
- Work closely with assigned students, including accompanying them on transportation and participating in their educational activities.
- Be responsible for emergency care for assigned students.
- Advise on adjustments to educational programs to accommodate the health needs of individual students.
- Prepare and submit reports to the lead nurse and principal.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Preferred: Associate's Degree in Practical Nursing or equivalent education/training.
- Required: Minimum of one (1) year of practical nursing or closely related experience.
- Preferred: Experience in pediatric nursing.
- Required: Valid State of Georgia Practical Nurse license.
- Required: Valid certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Preferred: Valid First Aid certification.
