Spokane, Washington, United States Providence Full time

Position Overview

The Senior Certified Nursing Assistant (CNAII) operates within their designated scope of practice under the guidance and oversight of a Registered Nurse. This role is pivotal in delivering care and executing assigned tasks as part of the nursing care plan. The incumbent showcases proficiency in fundamental nursing competencies and specialized skills pertinent to the assigned clinical area.

In collaboration with the Nursing Unit management team, this position also contributes to the functionality of the nursing unit by acting as a liaison for patients and visitors, managing incoming communications, and overseeing the inventory of medical supplies.

Post-orientation, the individual may take on delegated responsibilities, which could encompass the following tasks: addressing the hygiene, nutritional, mobility, comfort, and safety requirements of patients; measuring and reporting vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure); assisting with patient transport (transfers and discharges); and procuring necessary supplies and equipment from relevant departments. With verified competencies, additional tasks may be performed as delegated by the RN, including routine glucose monitoring, urinary catheter removal, oral suctioning, and measuring and documenting drainage outputs.

Patient care is tailored using age-specific concepts based on the demographics of the unit, which includes infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-age children, adolescents, and adults. This involves applying knowledge of growth and development, safety considerations, data collection, and typical treatments and care required. Effective communication with patients and families is maintained, ensuring a safe environment and proper use of medical equipment and supplies.

Qualifications Required:

  • Upon hire: Certification as a Nursing Assistant in Washington State
  • Upon hire: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience as a Secretary in a healthcare setting or as a Health Unit Coordinator.
