Spokane, Washington, United States Providence Full time

Position Overview

The Senior Certified Nursing Assistant (CNAII) operates within their designated scope of practice under the guidance and oversight of the Registered Nurse, assisting in the delivery of care and executing assigned tasks from the nursing care plan. This role requires a solid understanding of fundamental nursing skills as well as specialized skills pertinent to the assigned clinical area.

In this capacity, the individual will take on delegated responsibilities, which may encompass a variety of tasks such as: addressing the hygiene, nutritional, elimination, activity, comfort, and safety requirements of patients; measuring and reporting vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure); performing urine collections, and facilitating patient transfers and discharges. With verified competencies, the individual may undertake additional responsibilities assigned by the RN, including routine glucose finger sticks, urinary catheter removal, oral suctioning, and measuring and documenting output from drains.

Patient care will be tailored using age-appropriate concepts based on the demographic of the unit, which includes infants (1 month to 1 year), toddlers (1-2 years), preschoolers (3-5 years), school-age children (6-12 years), adolescents, and adults, including older adults (ages 66+). This involves applying knowledge of growth and development, safety needs, data collection, treatments, and care that is typically required. Effective communication with patients and families will also be maintained, ensuring a safe environment and proper use of medical equipment and supplies.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Washington Nursing Assistant Certification License upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience as a Secretary in a healthcare setting or as a Health Unit Coordinator.
  • At least 5 years of experience working with Gamma Knife technology.
