Position Overview
The Lead Certified Nursing Assistant (CNAII) operates within their designated scope of practice under the guidance and oversight of the Registered Nurse to aid in delivering care and executing assigned tasks of the nursing care plan. This role requires a solid understanding of fundamental nursing competencies and specialized skills pertinent to the assigned clinical area.
Upon completion of orientation, the individual will take on delegated responsibilities which may encompass, but are not limited to: addressing the hygiene, nutritional, elimination, activity, comfort, and safety requirements of patients; recording and communicating vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure); assisting with patient transport (transfers and discharges); and procuring necessary supplies and equipment from designated departments. With documented qualifications, the individual may undertake additional tasks assigned by the RN, such as routine glucose monitoring, urinary catheter removal, oral suctioning, and measuring and documenting output from drains.
Patient care is tailored using age-specific concepts based on the demographics of the unit population, which includes infants (1 month to 1 year), toddlers (1-2 years), preschoolers (3-5 years), school-age children (6-12 years), adolescents, and adults, including early, middle, and older adults (66+). This involves applying knowledge of growth and development, safety requirements, data collection, and typical treatments and care.
Key Qualifications:
- Washington Nursing Assistant Certification License upon hire.
- National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience as a Secretary in a healthcare setting or as a Health Unit Coordinator.
