Job Overview

The Facilities Operations Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of the Hunter Museum Campus. This position is integral to the overall functionality of the museum, providing support across various departments including Maintenance, Special Events, and Education. The associate is responsible for the upkeep and preservation of museum facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors alike.


Primary Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the upkeep and thorough cleaning of all buildings, grounds, and systems.
  2. Conduct daily inspections and perform necessary repairs on museum facilities.
  3. Ensure the cleanliness of the Café before the week begins and after events, with daily inspections.
  4. Support the management of the recycling initiative.
  5. Oversee work orders and streamline departmental workflow.
  6. Maintain professional relationships with vendors and contractors.
  7. Collaborate with the Facility Assistant Manager and Facility Manager to adhere to the annual maintenance budget.
  8. Provide assistance to the Special Events Department for facility requirements during rentals.
  9. Support the Education Department with both internal and external programming.
  10. Assist with the opening and closing procedures of the museum as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example with a positive demeanor.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in various aspects of facility management.
  • Proficient in using tools and performing general maintenance and repairs.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with technology, audio-visual equipment, and tablets.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; at least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in a related field.
  • Some college education preferred; comprehensive knowledge of facility maintenance methods and techniques (including safety, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).

Physical Requirements

This role requires physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, standing, squatting, crawling, pushing, pulling, climbing (ladders), reaching overhead, and lifting up to 80 lbs. The ability to transport moderately heavy items like furniture and equipment is essential.


Employment Type

This is a full-time, hourly position (40 hours/week) with a competitive hourly wage. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and be on-call for emergencies is required.
