Job Summary

Tesla is seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality standards are met in our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and control quality plans, performance metrics, and drive issues to root cause solutions.
  • Audit manufacturing lines against released processes and procedures, and assist in identifying and resolving quality issues.
  • Monitor quality, determine root causes of problems, and implement corrective actions and countermeasures.
  • Process and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) as required, and participate in ongoing optimization of products with respect to cost and production technology.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities with manufacturing and external suppliers, and work with Supply Quality Engineering and suppliers to develop specifications that support production requirements.
  • Provide design for manufacturability feedback to Engineering, and participate in DFM reviews and analyze and disposition component and product defects as a member of the Material Review Board.
  • Analyze and interpret data independently, anticipate potential problems, and take preventative action, and support PFMEA activities to ensure design and manufacturing issues are identified and risks mitigated.

Requirements

  • Experience within quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment (QS-9000, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA preferred, and GD&T knowledge is helpful).
  • Experience with extensive problem-solving and root cause analysis, and strong aptitude for electronic test and measurement systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams, and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices, 5S, TPS, TQM, etc. highly desired.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and ability to lift and sort parts of up to 30 pounds as needed.
  • Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills, and familiarity with basic MS Word/Excel is required.
  • Ability to use technological tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data, and operate relevant personal computing hardware and standard software.
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal.
