Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Description

Knife River - Texas Division is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Bryan, TX. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on heavy construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and power trains.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems to determine the cause and extent of repairs needed.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Anticipate and order necessary parts and supplies to ensure timely completion of repairs.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in heavy equipment repair preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Class B CDL preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of heavy yellow construction equipment.
  • Experience with graders, loaders, dozers, backhoes, trackhoes, and paving equipment.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment/vehicle components.
Working Conditions:

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will work in a fast-paced shop environment, with frequent exposure to dust, fumes, and gases. The ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with others is essential.
