Medical Laboratory Scientist III

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist III to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing complex analyses on various sample types, utilizing independent judgment to generate accurate test results.
Key Responsibilities- Perform advanced laboratory tests and procedures, including routine maintenance and calibration of equipment.
- Lead by example, mentoring others and serving as a clinical resource to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, developing and leading efforts to improve regulatory compliance within and beyond the department.
- Assist in determining the need for new services, equipment, instrumentation, tests, assays, and procedures.
- Train and orient new employees, helping them achieve and maintain required competencies.
- Perform duties as assigned related to the job description.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, biology, or a related science, or an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, basic sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory experience (bachelor's degree) or 4 years of clinical laboratory experience (Associate in MLT or related field or Military Lab Technician Training program).
- ASCP or equivalent certification.
You will also need to demonstrate:
- Leadership ability.
- Advanced knowledge of clinical laboratory processes, analytical procedures, and various laboratory equipment.
- Ability to perform advanced computer skills in a laboratory setting.
- Highly effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population served.
