Medical Laboratory Scientist II, Overnights

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist II, you will play a critical role in the University of Maryland Medical System's laboratory team. Under general supervision, you will perform analyses on a variety of sample types, maintain proper records, and utilize independent judgment to generate acceptable test results. Your responsibilities will include quality, efficiency, and safety in the performance of laboratory functions, as well as serving as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team.
Key Responsibilities- Independently perform waived, moderate, and high complexity testing using manual and automated processes, complying with all regulatory agency guidelines.
- Identify and resolve analytical problems, troubleshoot equipment issues, and take corrective action in evaluating testing procedures, patient results, and specimen integrity.
- Review and record quality control, determining the acceptability of testing, patient results, and instrument function.
- Respond to clinical and customer concerns, resolving customer issues in a confidential manner.
- Attend and participate in mandatory education, training, and in-service meetings specific to the department.
To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, biology, or a related science, or an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience. ASCP or equivalent certification is preferred.
You will also need to possess proficient knowledge of clinical laboratory processes, analytical procedures, and various laboratory equipment, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills.
