About the Role

AEG Vision is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. As an Optometric Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our doctors in delivering top-notch eye care services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exams, including dilation, topicals, and diagnostic medications.
  • Perform verbal interviews with patients to gather medical information and communicate with doctors prior to appointments.
  • Assist doctors in caring for patients in a timely and effective manner, adhering to scheduled appointments.
  • Instruct patients on medical care and schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
  • Discuss LASIK options with patients and identify those interested in the procedure.
  • Schedule referral appointments with ophthalmologists and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Record and maintain patient records in compliance with company, federal, and state policies (HIPAA).
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding medication, treatment, and other medical concerns.
  • Identify candidates for FDT testing and complete proper coding of procedures for payment collection.
  • Participate in practice meetings and projects as requested.
  • Ensure maximum doctor utilization through pre-appointment confirmation, daily appointment confirmation, and patient outreach.
  • Perform contact lens insertion and removal classes, as well as manage contact lens trial inventory.
  • Complete end-of-day responsibilities, including opti-schedule wrap-up and end-of-day checklist.
  • Make recommendations for process improvements that enhance quality, cost savings, and profitability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Windows.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medication.
  • Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
  • Experience maintaining patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Physical Demands

  • This position requires the ability to communicate effectively, utilize necessary equipment, and move about the office.
