Registered Nurse - Wound Care Specialist

Springs Village Care Center

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

The primary role of this position is to deliver exceptional nursing care to patients with wound-related issues. This includes assessing wounds and injuries for signs of infection or other complications, providing direct nursing care to residents, and overseeing daily nursing operations in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care and skilled nursing facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring that the highest quality of care is consistently provided to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate any changes in residents' conditions to team members, physicians, residents, and their families.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as completing medical documentation, reports, evaluations, and charting.
  • Manage the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents as necessary.
  • Complete incident reports as required.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary supplies, including pharmaceuticals and personal care items.
  • Prevent any instances of resident abuse.
  • Conduct rounds to assess and implement care plans for residents, including wound care and behavioral management.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in wound care and ostomy management, with the potential for certification.
  • Active, unencumbered RN license in Colorado and current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Ability to pass background checks as required.
  • Skilled in performing wound care without causing unnecessary discomfort to patients.
  • Capable of assessing patient conditions, initiating care plans, and making necessary updates.
  • Proficient in assessing and managing pain, utilizing appropriate techniques.
  • Educate patients and families on pain management strategies.
  • Deliver patient care in a manner that prioritizes safety and minimizes the risk of errors.
  • Obtain necessary physician orders and collaborate effectively with healthcare providers.
  • Provide care that meets the specific needs of geriatric patients.
  • Document patient data and observations clearly and accurately.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medications and their administration based on patient age and clinical status.
  • Guide and support patients and families regarding nursing care needs.
  • Follow up on lab results and inform physicians of any significant changes.
  • Adhere to universal precautions and infection control protocols.

Required Skills and Education:

  • Current Colorado Registered Nurse license.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Certification in Wound Care or eligibility for certification.
