Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our Cardiology team at UofL Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and record patient medical history, vital signs, and other essential information.
  • Assist with patient triage, EKGs, injections, and other medical procedures.
  • Reconcile medication lists and maintain accurate electronic health records.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to tasks and requests from healthcare professionals.
  • Report any abnormal results or concerns to physicians immediately.
  • Maintain clean and organized exam rooms, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Ensure confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by healthcare professionals.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assisting certification from a nationally recognized organization required.
  • Medical Assisting degree preferred; minimum one year of experience in a medical facility or documented evidence of externship.
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection experience required.
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification accredited by the American Heart Association required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of healthcare field and medical office protocols/procedures.
  • Knowledge of information to be conveyed to patients and families.
  • Skills in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
  • Skills in understanding patient education needs and effectively sharing information.
  • Abilities to learn and retain patient care procedures, project a professional image, and prioritize tasks.
