Role Overview: SARA is seeking a highly skilled, driven, and experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Coordinator to enhance our operations. This role provides an excellent opportunity for professional growth while working alongside talented engineers, physicists, and technicians on established and emerging projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements employee health and safety initiatives, fostering a culture of safety to reduce workplace injuries.
  • Understands and adheres to federal, state, and local safety regulations, ensuring compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) standards.
  • Creates and revises safety training materials, conducting training sessions for staff on safety protocols and preventive measures.
  • Conducts risk assessments of work environments and prepares reports for safety management.
  • Assists in the rollout of new safety protocols and procedures.
  • Performs root cause analyses on incidents and workplace hazards, recommending corrective actions.
  • Evaluates risks associated with processes and new equipment.
  • Submits solutions to identified risks, considering both financial and operational impacts.
  • Supports safety and environmental initiatives and improvement projects as directed.
  • Advises management and supervisors on regulatory updates affecting company compliance.
  • Leads initiatives to ensure adherence to environmental health and safety regulations.
  • Collects, monitors, reports, and analyzes key performance metrics related to environmental health and safety.
  • Reviews all incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.
  • Assists in managing hazardous waste at the site.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related discipline.
  • 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Physical requirements may include moderate effort, such as standing, sitting, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
  • Indoor working environment with moderate physical hazards.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations, particularly in manufacturing or research settings.
  • Experience in electrical safety protocols.
