Lead Patient Services Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Patient Services Coordinator to join our team at UNM Medical Group, Inc. in our Cancer Center Patient Access - New Patients area.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for handling all incoming internal and external new patient referrals, ensuring timely and accurate patient intake, and coordinating with new patient schedulers to request medical records and other necessary documents. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities- Reception: Answer incoming phones, patient check-in/out, coordinate and facilitate accurate patient appointment scheduling, and update patient schedules and appointments in UNMMG computer systems.
- Registration: Obtain copy of insurance card, verify accuracy of patient demographics and insurance information, and update information into UNMMG computer systems.
- Financial/Cash Management: Collect co-pays, collect upfront payments, generate patient receipts, and refer patients to financial counseling for funding options.
- Billing: Generate charge documents and other billing paperwork to ensure proper billing information is obtained and documented.
- Prior Authorization: Coordinate and process all referrals and prior authorizations, interface with insurance companies to verify coverage, and obtain prior authorizations.
- Maintain ongoing communications with the centralized UNMMG Practice Coordinator to address staffing issues, training, and support.
- Maintain record keeping and filing systems, gather, enter, and update data as required.
High school diploma or GED required. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.
