At Princeton University, we are seeking a highly skilled Sanitation Equipment Operator to join our Facilities Operations team. As a key member of our dynamic sanitation team, you will play a vital role in maintaining our beautiful campus by providing recycling, special waste, and trash removal services on a daily basis.
Responsibilities- Operate Specialized Equipment: You will be responsible for operating commercial vehicles, picking up trash, special waste, and recycling materials at designated University properties, and disposing of these materials at designated landfills and/or resource recovery sites.
- Maintenance and Inspections: You will perform minor maintenance on commercial vehicles, including checking motor fluids and lubricants, greasing necessary fittings, and keeping hydraulic fluids at proper levels.
- Dumpster Maintenance: You will maintain and inspect all dumpsters for defects, grease and/or replace casters and lids as necessary, and report major defects to the Sanitation Supervisor.
- Cleanliness and Organization: You will maintain dumpster sites, performing occasional racking and sweeping as necessary.
- Essential Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent work experience, good interpersonal and communication skills, excellent customer service skills, a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with air brake endorsement, and a current Federal D.O.T. medical form.
- Physical Demands: You must be able to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds between 1 and 100 times per day and frequently lift up to 70 pounds between 1 and 60 times per day.
- Work Environment: You must be able to stand or walk for 4-6 hours at a time up to 6 days per week, repetitively climb in and out of vehicles with 20 high steps, up to 50 times per day, and work in a variety of environmental conditions.
- Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience.
- Overtime Opportunities: Yes, available for weekends, holidays, and after-shift hours.
