Job Summary

MRI Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Spacesuit Test Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for performing project and test engineering functions for EVA spacesuit design, development, procurement, manufacture, test, and certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute test plans, hazard analyses, test procedures, and Test Readiness Review documentation
  • Design and develop test rigs, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
  • Coordinate test activities and requirements with NASA test facilities
  • Setup and execute tests, and prepare summary reports documenting test results
  • Lead the execution of spacesuit testing and become a certified Suit Test Engineer
  • Perform hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within spacesuit hardware development test articles or test support hardware

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or a related area
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and component level and system level testing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a project engineer or test engineer
  • Experience with NASA test processes
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical hardware elements and data acquisition systems
  • Experience with oxygen systems or life support systems or LabView programming

Working Conditions:

Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines:

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance:

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.

Other Essential Functions:

Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
