Position Overview:

The Risk Oversight Specialist plays a crucial role in the management and execution of risk strategies within the Banking & Investment Services sector. This position is responsible for the implementation and continuous monitoring of risk initiatives, collaborating closely with departmental leadership to pinpoint and document potential risks and the corresponding mitigating controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Operational Risk Management activities, including the reporting of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), performing Third-Party Risk Assessments, and executing Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs). Develop actionable plans and track follow-up items in partnership with unit Operations Managers to establish preventative measures and maintain comprehensive policy documentation.
  • Generate risk management reports to oversee the risk profile of assigned departments.
  • Collaborate with unit Operations Managers to identify, design, document, and implement effective controls and process maps as necessary.
  • Engage with various Second and Third Line groups to evaluate new legislation, regulations, or risk management frameworks applicable to departmental operations, ensuring compliance through the implementation of necessary policies and procedures.
  • Supervise audits and examinations of the assigned department, assisting in the formulation of management responses and ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Coordinate departmental support in response to enterprise-wide regulatory findings.
  • Assist unit and group managers in documenting, reporting, and addressing Self-Identified Audit Issues and Operational Risk Events.
  • Act as a risk management advisor in the development of new or modified products and operational processes.
  • Work alongside Regulatory Compliance, Legal, and other departments to analyze and provide guidance on regulatory and industry developments.
  • Evaluate Access Management status and communicate findings to centralized technology teams.
  • Analyze risk metrics and performance data to enhance protective measures through process design, policy updates, and system enhancements.
  • Develop deliverables such as Quarterly Risk Review (QRR) documentation and Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) artifacts.
  • Provide insights on relevant risk and control matters, conducting reviews and risk training as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of experience in risk and control management within a financial or banking institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of operational experience in a financial setting.
  • At least 3 years of experience in operational risk management control design, testing, or auditing.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a leadership or project management capacity.

Skills and Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of risks associated with banking operations and payment systems, with a focus on Quality Assurance (QA) programs, KRIs, RCSAs, and control testing.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements pertinent to financial institutions.
  • Proficient in building relationships and fostering collaboration across the organization.
  • Ability to work autonomously towards established objectives.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage with all levels of personnel; strong analytical, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Capability to analyze complex situations and provide sound recommendations.
  • Excellent presentation skills, tailored to diverse audiences.

Compensation: Starting base salary ranges from $101,231 to $172,355 annually, with variations based on skills, experience, and location. This position is eligible for bonuses and/or commissions.
