Certified Prosthetist Orthotist

A Certified Orthotist Prosthetist is a healthcare professional who provides comprehensive orthotic and prosthetic patient care. This includes patient assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of treatment plans to alleviate limitations and enhance function.
Key Responsibilities- Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of licensure, certification, or registration.
- Assess patients with musculoskeletal abnormalities to determine functional interventions.
- Produce orthotic and prosthetic devices as prescribed by referring physicians.
- Formulate treatment plans with other healthcare providers based on comprehensive assessments.
- Implement treatment plans and oversee certified assistants.
- Utilize follow-up treatment plans to ensure successful outcomes.
- Comply with practice management plans to ensure patient protection.
- Bachelor's degree in orthotics and prosthetics from a CAAHEP-accredited program or a Bachelor's degree in any major with a post-graduate orthotics and prosthetic certificate from a CAAHEP-accredited program.
- Certification by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (CBO) or Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC).
The Certified Orthotist Prosthetist will work in a healthcare setting, interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members. The individual must be able to remain in a stationary position, traverse or move around the work location, use a keyboard, operate department-specific equipment, ascend/descend equipment or ladders, position themselves to accomplish essential functions, receive and communicate information, and transport, position, and/or exert force.
