Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Tool Design Engineer to join our team at GE Aviation. As a key member of our production engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing tooling solutions for our aerospace products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Develop and document tool designs for production hardware and associated sub-components for aircraft applications.
  • Geometric Tolerancing: Apply geometric tolerancing methodology (GD&T) to ensure accurate and precise tooling designs.
  • Analytical Calculations: Perform analytical calculations necessary for designing tooling and fixtures, including tolerance stack-ups, fits, torque requirements, and thermal expansion.
  • Tooling and Fixture Design: Design and develop tools and fixtures for production hardware and associated sub-components.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that tooling designs meet quality and safety standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, production, and design engineering teams to ensure design producibility in a production environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve tooling-related issues and implement improvements.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree or high school diploma/GED from an accredited school or institution.
  • Experience: 5 years of demonstrated experience in tool design, with proficiency in geometric tolerancing, CNC programming, and heat-treating processes.
  • Skills: Proficient written and verbal communication skills, basic understanding of heat-treating processes, and ability to work independently or in a group setting.
