Our mission is to create a safe and nurturing environment where campers can thrive, develop independence, forge friendships, and enjoy a variety of activities.

Position Overview:

The Health Services Assistant (HSA) plays a crucial role in our camp, reporting directly to the Health Services Director. This position requires attendance at all camp sessions throughout the year, where the HSA will ensure the safety and well-being of our campers, staff, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications and provide first aid as needed.
  • Assess injuries and intervene in behavioral situations.
  • Coordinate care during emergencies, ensuring prompt and effective responses.
  • Engage with campers, fostering relationships and serving as a positive role model.
  • Participate in post-camp debrief meetings to evaluate camp processes and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to attend all camp sessions.
  • Genuine interest in working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Respectful and compassionate towards all campers, volunteers, and staff.
  • Possess an unencumbered nursing license in the relevant states or a Compact Nursing License.
  • Complete all required training, orientation, and background checks.
  • Hold current CPR certification (BLS for healthcare professionals).
  • Maintain current nursing malpractice insurance.
  • Willingness to learn and share knowledge with others.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a healthcare team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities.
  • Commitment to following care regulations and standards, including HIPAA compliance.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while adhering to the scope of practice.
