Duties & Responsibilities:

Senior Research Scientist/Engineer:


Design and develop optical filters that align with customer specifications for applications in consumer electronics, biomedical devices, gas monitoring, fluorescence microscopy, astronomy, light sensing, projection displays, and more.

Enhance and refine manufacturing processes for optical coatings.

This role encompasses optical coating design, substrate preparation, substrate/wafer handling, vacuum-based coating techniques such as sputter deposition, post-coating optical metrology, and additional related processes.

Engage with customers during the pre-sales phase, facilitating communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a B.S. degree in Material Science, Physical, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Optical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Analytical mindset; detail-oriented; adept at problem-solving.

Computer Proficiency:
High proficiency in MS Excel and Office is essential.
Experience in vacuum engineering, vacuum processes, thin film deposition, and optics is highly desirable.
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required.
Must be ITAR Eligible (U.S. Citizenship, Permanent Resident, or Approved Asylee Status).

Additional / Desired Qualifications:
Graduate or advanced degree is preferred.
Expertise in Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is advantageous.
Familiarity with cleanroom environments is a plus.

Programming Skills:
Experience with MatLab or similar programming tools is desirable.
Project Management experience is beneficial.
