Job Summary:

VIAVI Solutions is a global leader in network test, monitoring, and assurance solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist/Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing optical filters for various applications, including consumer electronics, biomedical devices, and astronomy. You will also develop and improve processes for manufacturing optical coatings and work closely with customers to meet their requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement optical filters for various applications.
  • Develop and improve processes for manufacturing optical coatings.
  • Work closely with customers to meet their requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.

Requirements:

  • Minimum B.S. in Material Science, Physical, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Optical Engineering or related field.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interaction skills.
  • Analytical thinker; detail oriented; problem solver.
  • Proficient with computers: strong proficiency with MS Excel and Office required.
  • Experience in vacuum engineering, vacuum processes, thin film deposition, and optics highly desirable.
  • At least 10 years of experience required.
  • ITAR Eligible (U.S Citizenship, Permanent Resident, or Approved Asylee Status).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate / Advanced degree preferred.
  • Expertise in Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Familiar with a Cleanroom work environment.
  • Programming skills: especially experience with MatLab or similar programming tools desirable.
  • Project Management.

VIAVI Solutions offers a competitive benefits package, including paid time off, health, life, and disability insurance, 401(k), and a bonus program. The salary range for this position is $101,500 to $188,500, depending on exceptional qualifications, experience, and location.
