Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing staff supervision and training, as well as other related duties, in a criminal justice environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts interviews, background investigations, and prepares reports/paperwork on defendants with pending/active court cases.
  • Works in conjunction with the Unit Supervisor to supervise and coordinate the activities of employees assigned to the 24-hour Jail Release operations.
  • Collaborates with courts and other related agencies and programs as departmental liaison in identifying clients for release, supervision, and other referral needs.
  • Directs and trains assigned counselors and evaluates their effectiveness.
  • Organizes and leads team discussions to promote and accommodate unit and departmental needs goals.
  • Reviews files and paperwork for accuracy and ensures proper responses to any issues and/or discrepancies.
Requirements
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a criminal justice environment as an investigator, counselor, social worker, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, social work, or related field.
  • Ability to work in a jail secured environment and obtain a Special Deputy License.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, make formal presentations in courtroom settings, and maintain and establish meaningful rapport with counselees and subordinates.
