Software Engineer Job Description

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team in Manhattan Beach, CA. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software solutions for our Mission Planning systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the software development cycle, including design, implementation, and delivery of build/test/release
  • Develop Java-based software solutions for our Mission Planning systems
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure successful project delivery
  • Support the team in completing necessary software on schedule
  • Work independently and as part of an Agile team to solve complex problems

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or 0 years of experience with a Master's degree in STEM
  • Active Top Secret DoD Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access
  • Intermediate experience with object-oriented programming, using C++, C#, and/or Java
  • Understanding of core IT competencies, including Networking, Servers, DBs, Apps, and certs
  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Java microservices, Graphical User Interface (GUI) applications, threading, intermediate object-oriented programming, design patterns, Data Distribution Service (DDS) messaging, web technologies, Unified Modeling Language (UML)
  • Experience with Mission Planning applications
  • Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite: Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, Crucible/Fish-eye
