As a Payroll Tax Specialist at Sinclair, you will be pivotal in guaranteeing that our workforce receives accurate and timely compensation. The perfect candidate will possess a background in managing multi-state payroll taxes for a substantial organization while ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. Your attention to detail and systematic approach to data management will be essential in upholding the accuracy of our payroll systems and records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and precise tax deposits and filings for payroll taxes on a daily, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Support periodic and quarterly payroll tax audits.
  • Examine, validate, and assist in rectifying any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly Multiple Worksite Reporting.
  • Gather necessary documentation for all audit inquiries.
  • Assist in addressing IRS, State, and Local payroll tax notifications and exceptions using ADP SmartCompliance, collaborating closely with ADP to respond to related questions.
  • Handle W-2 inquiries for the current and previous years.
  • Manage multiple tasks while maintaining productivity and providing updates to the Payroll Tax Supervisor.
  • Monitor receipt of state unemployment insurance rates and perform systematic updates.
  • Register for new state SUI and Withholding Tax accounts for new locations and FEINs as required.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, and IT, to enhance payroll tax processes, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by promptly addressing employee inquiries regarding payroll tax deductions.
  • Prepare payroll tax journal entries based on payroll tax funding.
  • Assist in preparing various tax returns and reports not filed by ADP, including other required government reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate payroll processing, particularly with large employee populations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in payroll software and systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the capability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and organizational levels.
  • High integrity and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of payroll information.
  • Experience with Excel and ADP is a plus.

This position requires 5 days in the office at our Corporate Headquarters.
