The Integrated Engineering Design (IED) group at Morrison Hershfield delivers comprehensive engineering solutions to a wide range of clients, including institutional, industrial, residential, and commercial sectors. Our focus areas encompass transit, telecommunications, waste management, higher education, and food/beverage facilities, all of which demand reliable and cost-effective infrastructure for both new developments and retrofitting projects. The collective expertise of our engineers, technicians, and support staff, combined with their diverse backgrounds in design and construction, positions us as leaders in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in all stages of commissioning projects, which may involve intricate features such as planning, scheduling, and work coordination.
  • Conduct engineering design evaluations, create commissioning scripts and reports, oversee client-site testing, and manage the training of on-site personnel.
  • Develop equipment pre-start-up and start-up protocols; create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs); ensure comprehensive commissioning documentation.
  • Draft commissioning test protocols and reports.
  • Establish and maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and other tools to monitor project progress.
  • Compile detailed reports and recommendations aimed at optimizing building operations, including functional checklists, deficiency lists, and equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submissions, and other documentation relevant to commissioning.
  • Participate in commissioning activity meetings.
  • Collaborate with construction contractors, vendors, and testing technicians.
  • Conduct tests and compile results from all testing procedures.
  • Integrate system testing, including Load Bank Testing, and compile all testing procedure results.
  • Develop and administer functional tests for various building MEP systems, including HVAC air and water distribution systems, air handling units, pumps, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, UPS, generators, and power distribution units.
Qualifications:
  • This position is remote but requires frequent travel, preferably from Ohio.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in an engineering service delivery organization or consulting/design environment, with demonstrated expertise in MEP systems.
  • Experience in Data Center or Mission Critical environments is preferred.
  • Prior experience on a mission-critical facility construction site is advantageous.
  • A Technical or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Licensure as a PE or EIT in Electrical Discipline is a plus.
  • LEED AP accreditation is an asset.
  • CXA, AABC, or ACG certification is desired.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role, which involves substantial documentation and client interaction.
  • High proficiency in technical writing, systems development, and utilization is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD is necessary.
  • Extensive knowledge of MEP systems and controls design, installation, and operation is a plus.
  • This role may involve domestic and international travel.
  • A proven track record in commissioning planning, functional testing, building performance evaluation, including re-commissioning, retro-commissioning, and/or preventative maintenance, as well as troubleshooting experience for new and existing buildings is essential.
